Dresden
after losing her childhood
in Slovakia, would it ever end
she imagined it would,
though she imagined life
in a number of ways
she applied those ways
to Ontario
on the banks of the Grand River
her Nazis cavorted
and when she died
I imagined her walking
down the aisles of Food Basics,
looking for foods she enjoyed
when she was a child in Slovakia

Oh-- I remember the first poem I read by you-- she was in it.
